The dark side

First published 5 months ago

Don’t we all have our “dark-side” or even “sides”?

Time to take your tie off, get comfortable embracing yourself. But, what is actually our dark-side and what makes it to be dark? Perhaps we should define “dark” and understand its meaning before we go any further. In 2010, Debbie Ford wrote in her book that we should embrace all aspects of ourselves, even our dark-side, aka the “shadow self”. I agree, even if there is a dark-side, it is part of who we are, it shapes how we live our daily lives. So why should we hide it or even be afraid of acknowledging it? Let us not be ashamed, instead let us share and educate.

Embrace all parts of yourself, even your dark sides, aka your “shadow self”.

A definition I came across reads “We all have a dark-side — qualities that we often don’t like to reveal to others. It’s the traits we might be ashamed of or embarrassed about. The ones others may have rejected or that we believe deem us undeserving or unworthy of love. You may sometimes act judgmental, angry, selfish, or controlling.”

I find this very interesting, not only because it’s described as a trait, but moreover because I am intrigued about why we should hide our dark-side, who or what tells us to hide it? Moral, society, culture, fear?

Strangely, we all have our dark-side, and it isn’t the criminal dark-side I am talking about. It’s our inner desires, the stepping out of the comfort zone or simply the exploration of our very own limits. I believe we should not ignore or suppress our secrets, we should instead in fact embrace them, not be afraid of accepting that it is a part of us, perhaps even the part that shaped us most in making us who we are today.

I for myself decided to reveal my dark-sides here from time to time. I do have my dark-side, and I enjoy it each and every time it takes control over me. Can’t wait to share my first secret here in an exclusive blog content post soon. To read all its kinky, nasty secrets you’ll need to register here. Of course for free. Why is registration necessary? Well, I want to take it gradually and reveal my inner desires only to those I know and identify with.

Intrigued – Register here.

Don’t be afraid of it, embrace it, enjoy it, be proud of it – it is a part of who you are.
